Saturdays on my own!

I've been grooming on Saturdays, solo for about a month now.  Some days are really stressful and others are a breeze.  Today was a mix.  I had 2 dogs.  One that should have been hard that was easy.  And the other should have been easy that was DIFFICULT.  I didn't get a picture of the difficult dog (biting, wouldn't allow the clippers, had to hand scissor all 4 legs), because I had other things on my mind at the time.  And the easy one, I didn't think would look all that different, so I didn't get a before picture.  But she looked so cute after.  So here she is!  I give you Piper, a schnauzer terrier mix.

Christmas week was BUSY!

There were so many dogs last week, I completely forgot to take pictures.
The one picture I did get was I painted candy canes on this sweet pit puppy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
p.s. My professional resolution is to take before/after pictures of at least one dog a day!

First of the Christmas Doggies!

I need to remember the before pictures!

I LOVE this dog. It's come into the shop before and I've given it a bath. But this time I knew I'd be trimming the coat, so when I put it in the cage dryer (wire cage with a box fan, not a heated dryer cage) I sprayed her with some leave in conditioner. It made her hair dry like SILK! So easy to brush out.
Miss Sadie is a regular customer that comes in ever 3-4 weeks, and I've just started grooming her.  She has the most adorable under-bite.  She just got a Face, Feet, and Fanny, so she didn't change much.  Took a lot of bulk off her cheeks and cleaned up her eyes a little.

Maltese

I did this Maltese all by myself.  She looks so cute!

Welcome to my Blog!

A little about me!  Hi!  I'm Jackie!  I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with my husband of 14 years and my two girls, ages 13 and 8!  I have one dog, a cockapoo Peaches, who will be the guinea pig of many grooming techniques.
I grew up in Utah and just moved to the coast last January.  We LOVE the South!
After moving here, I decided I wanted a part time job.  I saw an ad for a dog bather at a local grooming shop.  I thought, that'd be fun!  So I stopped in for an application.  Well long story short, I'm now training to be a full fledged DOG GROOMER!!!!!
Here I'll document some of my work and share some quotes or interesting articles I find in my grooming research!
